"Hi, my name is Gavin Hein. I’m from a small town in southern Wisconsin. I started art at a very young age, typically drawing landscape pictures, and I was determined to get good enough that my art would catch people’s eyes. My dad got very ill, and we had to sell everything to live on the road for two years to get him two brain surgeries in California. During that time, we stopped at multiple national parks, and I got to experience the western part of the United States. I was amazed by the beauty.

I grew up on a small farm, and I had a passion for anything agriculture, so I like to incorporate cowboys and animals to bring out the agricultural side of my imagination. When we lived on the road, we pulled our camper with my dad’s old diesel farm truck. I had a lot of good memories in that truck, and I often incorporate it or other vehicles in my paintings as a reminder of the truck that took us across the country. My mom would call it our “covered wagon.”

I really enjoy art because I can show people how my imagination sees the world, and I like my art because I can show off the beauty of some of the amazing places our country has to offer."
