Cornelia Götze was born in 1956 in Elsterwerda, Germany. Her journey into the arts was not a straightforward one. Though she showed enthusiasm from a young age by participating in the drawing circle led by Heinz Detlef Moosdorf, she initially followed her parents' advice to pursue a more secure profession. Over the years, however, each step brought her closer to fulfilling her dream of dedicating her life entirely to art.

From 1974 to 1978, Götze studied pedagogy in art and German at PH Dresden, graduating with a diploma. Between 1979 and 1984, she taught in Weißwasser and Annaberg-Buchholz, while raising her two sons. She then pursued design through a distance program at the HFIF in Halle and FFAK in Heiligendamm, graduating as an engineer. From 1986 to 1992, she worked as a decor and vessel designer at Elsterkeramik. From 1993 until 2019, she served as a design and art teacher at OSZ EE, before shifting to full-time artistic practice in the summer of 2019.
