Nicole Battiston was born and raised in Northern Italy. She studied at the Istituto Statale d’Arte in Venice, where she earned a diploma in Applied Arts and Advertising Graphics, before completing a degree in Educational Sciences at the University of Trieste. After years away from art, an irrepressible need to reconnect with her creative nature emerged. Her academic background offered her new tools to channel her emotional sensitivity, which has since become the driving force of her artistic expression. By “making peace with imperfection,” Battiston fuels her creative flow and opens space for a new narrative.

In late 2021, she entered a phase of intense experimentation, working on rolls of unstretched canvas and employing a wide range of tools and techniques to develop an authentic and personal language. Through this process, she fully embraced creative freedom, letting go of control and immersing herself in an emotional and intuitive dimension. Her artistic research continues to evolve, guided by the desire to affirm her identity without conforming to predefined frameworks.

Carsten Lehmann, curator of the contemporary art gallery Konsum163 in Munich, writes:
“Battiston is an artist whose work is rooted in materiality, memory, and transformation. Her painterly practice navigates the boundary between figuration and abstraction, between controlled composition and spontaneous gesture. In her paintings, formal, emotional, and intuitive processes interweave to form a kind of visual diary — a tangible trace of the very act of painting. These are neither realistic landscapes nor conventional portraits, but inner maps — soulscapes where personal experiences, luminous impressions, and chromatic associations are layered. Her art is lived time, memory turned into matter. Her paintings demand physical presence, closeness, confrontation. It is this raw honesty, stripped of ornament, that makes her work so compelling.”
