Sharon Covert is a conceptual self-portrait artist whose work invites viewers into haunting, dreamlike worlds inspired by fairy tales, folklore, and the subconscious. Working primarily in black and white, she employs symbolism, surrealism, and anonymity to explore themes of grief, healing, inner transformation, and the beauty found in darkness. Using herself as subject, Covert’s photographs act not as self-revelation but as vessels for universal emotion and silent confession.
Her deeply personal yet intentionally anonymous imagery is constructed through metaphor and visual storytelling. Covert’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and internationally, and has been featured in publications including Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, The Sun Magazine, and SHOTS Magazine. A finalist for the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize in 2025, she continues to share her vision through her practice and online teaching.
Rooted in both shadow and magic, Sharon Covert’s art aims to console as much as provoke, offering a mirror to those who find recognition in what remains unseen.
