Irit Rotrubin is a Tel Aviv-based photographer whose work explores the intersection of memory, identity, and visual aesthetics through the lens of vintage eyewear. Deeply rooted in personal history, her project began with the discovery of old glasses in her family’s store—an establishment dating back to 1950, when her father and grandfather imported glasses and watches from towns in France and Italy. This emotional connection evolved into a profound artistic exploration.
Specializing in artistic photography, Rotrubin employs collage techniques, AI-driven processes, and black-and-white photography to create emotionally resonant and visually striking images. Her fascination with glasses is not only functional but symbolic: she views them as tools for clarity and as reflections of individual personality and style. In her series photographed in Paris, she pairs vintage glasses with evocative urban landscapes to tell subtle stories about the people who once wore them.
Rotrubin’s photographic practice blends intense color, striking light and shadow, and a painterly sensibility. Trained in professional workshops abroad, she continuously pushes the boundaries of her medium, turning personal memory into artistic dialogue.
