Deborah Barr is a contemporary American artist whose work draws on a deep interest in anthropology and spiritual and cultural traditions from around the world. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Mills College, where she studied under the influential Chinese-American painter Hung Liu.
Barr has exhibited extensively across the United States and internationally in countries including Colombia, Kenya, Russia, Monaco, France, Spain, Germany, and Luxembourg. In addition to her artistic practice, she is a dedicated educator. She has taught art at Columbia College, Merced College, and San Jose State University, and currently serves as a full-time Professor at Modesto Junior College in California. Her teaching spans Beginning and Advanced Painting, Mural Painting, Basic and Figure Drawing, Color & Design, and Art Appreciation.
