Liu Liyuan is an Asian artist based in Vancouver, Canada, whose work reflects a deep engagement with culture, movement, and creativity. A graduate of the Beijing Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, she combines her love of travel, dance, and teaching with a dynamic artistic practice centered primarily on oil painting.
Liu's work has garnered widespread international recognition. She has received awards in Switzerland and participated in prestigious exhibitions such as the 5th American Women Artists Painting Competition, the 162nd Annual Exhibition of the British Association of Women Artists, and shows organized by the Circle Foundation for the Arts in France. In 2023, she was the sole artist sponsored to exhibit at the International Art Exhibition in New York, where her work was also featured in New York Art News—the only Chinese artist included. That same year, she received the Special Commendation Award at the 12th International Women's Art Exhibition.
Her paintings have been showcased at Art Basel in Switzerland, the Global Art Exhibition in Milan, the 2024 Canadian Artists Online Exhibition, and online exhibitions hosted in Shanghai. Liu’s work was published in New York Artexpo 2023 Visionary News, 50 Artists to Watch in 2023 (Italy), and in the internationally acclaimed publication World Art, distributed by the Guggenheim and MoMA in the United States. She received the Best Art and Creativity Award and was named 2023 Artist of the Year by World Art. Her work is also slated for inclusion in the 2025 Infinite Design Exhibition in New York.
