Born in London and raised in New Zealand, Brenda Hartill graduated with honours from Elam School of Fine Art in Auckland. She returned to the UK to study theatrical design at Central School of Art and Design, working in British theatre, including the West End and the National Theatre. In the early 1980s, she turned to printmaking and has since exhibited widely. She is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and the Rye Society of Artists. Her publications include the book 'Collagraphs and Mixed Media Printmaking' and an instructional DVD titled 'A Sculptural Approach to Printmaking'. Hartill has led numerous workshops in Spain and the UK and continues to exhibit in major galleries including Bankside Gallery, the Attic Gallery, and others.
