Helen Smithwick is an accomplished botanical artist based in Colorado Springs, where she resides with her husband, Bob, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Following her retirement, Smithwick rekindled her passion for drawing and painting, embarking on a new artistic journey.
In 2010, she began studying at the Denver Botanic Gardens, immersing herself in the study of botanical art and illustration. In 2013, she graduated with distinction, earning the Foundational Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration. Her achievements were further recognized when she received the Sydney Parkinson Award for excellence in botanical illustration and the best overall portfolio for her graduating class.
Smithwick is a member of the American Society of Botanical Illustrators and the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists. Her meticulous and evocative works have been featured in several private collections and showcased in numerous juried exhibitions locally. Through her dedication and artistic skill, Helen Smithwick continues to capture the intricate beauty of the natural world in her botanical illustrations.
